WHAT IS THE MĀLAMA HAWAII PROJECT?
The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority, in partnership with a statewide alliance of private industry partners including hotels, airlines and volunteer organizations, are coming together with an initiative to encourage mindful and, ultimately, regenerative tourism by giving travelers an opportunity to stay an extra day at no charge if they participate in a voluntourism activity.
Each airline and hotel partner is managing its own promotion, so please check the Mālama Hawaii for specific details.
Lahaina Restoration Foundation (LRF) is proud to be part of this new initiative by offering a chance to interact with Lahaina’s past through artifacts and archives.
WHAT IS LRF’s VOLUNTEERISM PROJECT?
Learn more about Maui’s rich history through hands-on processing (measure/describe/photograph/transcribe) of historic artifacts and documents from from all eras of Lahaina’s past, including Kingdom of Hawaii, Missionary, Whaling, and Sugar eras.
