The August free concert in our Hawaiian Music Series features the sweet sounds of Meheu on Thursday, August 27 from 6 to 7:30 pm. Join this up-and-coming Maui trio on the lawn in front of Baldwin Home Museum at the corner of Dickenson & Front Streets in Lahaina for a beautiful summer evening.
The young men of Meheu, Grant Kono, Greg Juan and Maleko Lorenzo, will take you on a journey to each island of Hawai‘i with the traditional Hawaiian leo ki‘eki‘e (falsetto singing) and three part harmonies that have become a trademark in the islands and worldwide. They perform on ‘ukulele, guitar and bass. The three musicians met in college on O‘ahu and formed the trio. Maleko and Greg were in the Kamehameha Schools Maui Hawaiian Music Ensemble and have performed as Hōʻeu, and Grant won the 2014 Richard Ho‘opi‘i Leo Ki‘eki‘e Falsetto Contest.
Limited seating is provided; blankets, mats and low beach chairs are welcome. For more information, call 808-661-3262 or email us.
