Back by popular demand for another year are Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s monthly Hawaiian Music Series concerts. This month’s free event takes place on Thursday, January 28 from 6 to 7:30 pm in front of the Baldwin Home Museum at the corner of Dickenson and Front Streets in Lahaina.
Join Mika Villaren and Keoni Darisay for a laid-back evening of traditional and contemporary Hawaiian tunes accompanied by hula dancers. Born and raised in Lahaina, Keoni Darisay was always surrounded by music at home when his dad, professional musician Arsenio Darisay, and friends would play piano, drums, guitar, ‘ukulele, flute, saxophone and bass on weekends. Keoni resides in Hana and leads the band, ExposeJah. Mika Villaren, who was also raised in Lahaina and graduated from Lahainaluna High School, is a talented multi-instrumentalist. He entertains at West Maui hotels and around the island in addition to performing with ExposeJah.
Limited seating is provided; blankets, mats and low beach chairs are welcome. The ongoing Hawaiian Music Series program is sponsored by Hawai‘i Tourism Authority, the County of Maui Office of Economic Development and The Outlets of Maui.
