On Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12, we will honor the life and achievements of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, known as The Father of Modern China, during the annual Sun Yat-sen Festival at Wo Hing Museum & Cookhouse, 858 Front Street in Lahaina. Festival activity hours are between 2 and 8:30 pm with the museum open at 10 am.

Tribute to Dr. Sun Yat-sen in Cookhouse This year, the 150th Anniversary of his birth will be celebrated with a new educational exhibit, film tribute and displays depicting the life of Sun Yat-sen from Maui to China.

During the festival, you can try Chinese martial arts on the museum lawn, or explore cultural activities like calligraphy and knot tying. Enjoy a presentation in the old Cookhouse on the significance of Dr. Sun’s work and his connection to Maui. Listen to Chinese traditional music on the bamboo flute, erhu string and gu zheng harp instruments. In the evening, sample Cantonese food and Chinese teas in the garden.
