Lahaina Harbor Front Improvement Project, Phase I construction is nearly complete and now open to the public during daylight hours. Due to an unforseen delay in connecting the new lamp posts to an electrical source, the project area will be closed in the evening and reopened every morning around 7 am.
The two shade trellises are in place over the stunning permeable brick-like pavers on the walkway. Protective bollards have been installed along Wharf Street, and new cement foundations for the flagpole and cannons have been made. The trees are thriving and landscaping plants are filling in the planters. New benches and tables are being made and will be delivered to the site soon along with more interpretive plaques.
These beautiful and practical improvements will enhance the harbor user experience and keep pedestrians safe from vehicle traffic.
